Use Case — Utility Planners

One integration. All 300+ utility territories.

Utility planning teams and grid analytics companies use Derapi to aggregate DER portfolios across multiple FERC zones and utility territories with a single API integration — normalized schema, webhook callbacks for queue changes, no bespoke ETL per territory.

300+ Utility territories
1 API integration
The Problem

Multi-utility DER data aggregation is an engineering project of its own

Without Derapi
  • Each utility has its own portal, schema, and data format
  • Interconnect queue data requires separate scraping or API per utility
  • DER portfolio aggregation across territories requires custom ETL for each
  • Queue health monitoring requires polling dozens of disparate systems
  • Maintenance burden grows with every new utility territory covered
With Derapi
  • Single unified schema across all 300+ utility territories
  • Bulk territory queries with webhook callbacks when queue positions change
  • DER portfolio aggregation endpoint returns normalized data across utilities
  • Queue health monitoring via webhook alerts — no polling required
  • Derapi maintains data freshness and schema consistency as utilities change
Key Endpoints

Endpoints for utility planners

GET
/v1/ders/portfolio
Aggregate DER portfolio data for a FERC zone or utility territory. Returns count, capacity, asset type breakdown, and queue status across all assets.
POST
/v1/webhooks/queue-change
Subscribe to interconnect queue position changes for a set of territories. Callback fires within 15 minutes of detected change.
GET
/v1/grid/load-forecast
Distributed load forecast incorporating DER contribution by territory. 7-day horizon with 15-minute interval granularity.
GET
/v1/ders/interconnect/bulk
Bulk interconnect queue query for up to 500 ZIP codes or territory IDs per request. Returns paginated results with queue health scores.

We cover 12 different utilities in our load forecasting tool. Before Derapi, each utility integration was a separate engineering project. Now it's one API call with a consistent schema. The DX is excellent — and Derapi keeps the data current so we don't have to.
